shelter pets project
I spent the morning at the Fairbanks North Star Borough Animal Shelter photographing several pets like this that need homes. The staff at the shelter was warm, accommodating and very patient as I disrupted their routine, but were so appreciative of any way to raise community awareness of the wonderful animals they care for that are waiting to meet their forever families.
In order to help with that, I will be showing portraits of the pets that I met today at a First Friday event at River City Cafe and Espresso in July. More details to come!
Update! It is now the end of August, and I’ve just taken the photos down, as the event was moved from July to August. It was a great success! We raised lots of awareness for the shelter, as well as $300 for the shelter fund! This money will go toward anything and everything that the shelter needs for the animals that are cared for there that isn’t covered by funding from the borough.
